Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

Directed by Robert Wise. With William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan. When a destructive space entity is spotted approaching Earth, Admiral Kirk resumes command of the Starship Enterprise in order to intercept, examine and hopefully stop it.

The film is set in the 23rd century, when a mysterious and immensely powerful alien cloud called V’Ger approaches Earth, destroying everything in its path. Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) assumes command of his previous starship (the recently refitted USS Enterprise) to lead it on a mission to save the planet and determine V’Ger’s origins.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

Directed by Nicholas Meyer. With William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan. With the aide of his Enterprise crew, Captain Kirk must stop an old nemesis, Khan, from using his son’s life-generating device, Genesis, as the ultimate weapon.

The plot features James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise facing off against the genetically-engineered tyrant Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalbán), a character who first appeared in the 1967 Star Trek television series episode “Space Seed”. When Khan escapes from a 15-year exile to exact revenge on Kirk, the crew of the Enterprise must stop him from acquiring a powerful terraforming device named Genesis.

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984)

After the death of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) the crew of the USS Enterprise returns to Earth. When James T. Kirk (William Shatner) learns that Spock’s spirit, or katra, is held in the mind of Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Kirk and company steal the Enterprise to return Spock’s body to his home planet. The crew must also contend with hostile Klingons, led by Kruge (Christopher Lloyd), bent on stealing the secrets of a powerful terraforming-device.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

Intent on returning home to Earth to face trial for their crimes, the former crew of the USS Enterprise finds the planet in grave danger from an alien probe attempting to contact now-extinct humpback whales (!!!). The crew travel to Earth’s past to find whales who can answer the probe’s call.

Star Trek Generations (1994)

Directed by David Carson. With Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Malcolm McDowell, Jonathan Frakes. Captain Picard, with the help of supposedly dead Captain Kirk, must stop a madman willing to murder on a planetary scale in order to enter a space matrix.

In the year 2293, recently retired Captain James T. Kirk, Montgomery Scott, and Pavel Chekov attend the maiden voyage of the Starship USS Enterprise-B. During the voyage, Enterprise is pressed into a rescue mission to save two refugee ships from a strange energy ribbon. Enterprise is able to save some of the refugees before their ships are destroyed and Enterprise becomes trapped in the ribbon itself.

Star Trek Nemesis (2002)

Directed by Stuart Baird. With Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton. After the Enterprise is diverted to the Romulan planet of Romulus, supposedly because they want to negotiate a truce, the Federation soon find out the Romulans are planning an attack on Earth.

The crew of the USS Enterprise-E are forced to deal with a threat to the United Federation of Planets from a Reman clone of Captain Picard named Shinzon who has taken control of the Romulan Star Empire in a coup d’état.
