Stargate Atlantis is a science-fiction/adventure TV series created by Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper (Stargate Universe) as a spin-off series of Stargate SG-1. It’s part of the Stargate franchise created by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. The show ran for 5 seasons (100 episodes) between July 2004 and January 2009.

Stargate Atlantis takes place after the finale of Stargate SG-1‘s 7th season (Lost City) and the first episode of season 8 (New Order). An international team of scientists and military personnel is sent to investigate Atlantis, an Antarctic outpost created by an alien race called The Ancients.

Stargate Atlantis stars Joe Flanigan as Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, Torri Higginson as Dr. Elizabeth Weir, Rachel Luttrell as Teyla Emmagan (leader of the Athosians), Rainbow Francks as Aiden Ford, David Hewlett as Dr. Rodney McKay, Jason Momoa as Ronon Dex, Paul McGillion as Dr. Carson Beckett, Amanda Tapping as Colonel Samantha Carter, Jewel Staite as Dr. Jennifer Keller, Robert Picardo as Richard Woolsey and Mitch Pileggi (Skinner in TheX -Files) as Colonel Steven Caldwell.

Stargate Atlantis Season 1
The first season is about a military-science expedition team discovering Atlantis and exploring the Pegasus Galaxy. However, there is no way to return home, and they inadvertently awake a hostile alien race known as the Wraith, whose primary goal is to gather a fleet to invade Atlantis and find their new feeding ground, Earth.
