Darla (Julie Benz) was a vampire, the former lover of Angel and the mother of Connor. Drusilla (Juliet Landau) was a vampire who possessed innate psychic powers as a human. She was tortured to insanity and sired by Angel/Angelus, who had murdered her entire family before her eyes in order to turn her into his masterpiece. Drusilla later sired a young London poet called William Pratt, who took the name Spike (James Marsters) and became her longtime lover. Drusilla was born  around the mid-19th century and lived with her family in the East End of London. One night in 1860, she was recognized by Darla for her prophetic gifts. Darla presented Drusilla to her lover, the ruthless Angelus, who became instantly obsessed with the young woman. He wished not only to destroy her physically, but to poison her mind, as he and Darla were both able to sense that she had the potential for sainthood. Spike was a famous vampire, well-known among both humans and demons for having faced and killed two Slayers throughout his unlife, and for his history of torturing his victims with railroad spikes. After being sired by Drusilla, he reinvented himself and terrorized Europe alongside Drusilla, Angel and Darla throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
