Doctor Who TV Series 7 Story 240 The Day of the Doctor Special 50th Anniversary

The Day of the Doctor, written by Steven Moffat, is a special Doctor Who episode, marking the show’s 50th anniversary. This episode was broadcast simultaneously in 94 countries (Guinness World Record !), and was shown concurrently in 1500 theaters.

The Day of the Doctor shows the last day of the Time War, in which the War Doctor chooses to kill both Daleks and his own race of Time Lords to end the destructive conflict, paralleling this with a present-day choice by paramilitary organisation UNIT to destroy London rather than allow an alien invasion.

This anniversary episode stars Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, David Tennant as the 10th Doctor, and Billie Piper as The Moment, a sentient doomsday weapon projected as an image based on Rose Tyler. She is invisible and inaudible to everyone but the War Doctor, played by John Hurt.
